LOIRE VALLEYThe vineyards of Loire lie between the latitude of 47 N and 48 N, providing a cooler climate for growing conditions. It is for these reasons that whites and rose’s of the Loire tend to be the areas specialty, more so then reds. The wine growing region is divided into four sub-regions: Nantais, Anjou-Saumur, Touraine and the Central Vineyards. Primary grapes permitted are: Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chasselas, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Muscadet, Folle Blanche, Cabernet Franc (Breton), Gamay Noir and Malbec (Cot). |
