COGNAC

The Cognac region is located just north of Bordeaux, and is home to the third largest vineyard area in France. The region is divided into 6 growing districts : Grand & Petite Champagne (two best areas), Borderies, Fins Bois (largest growing area), Bon Bois and Bois Ordinaires.
The minimum amount of time that Cognac must spend in oak is 2 years (VS). For VSOP it must be a minimum of 4 years in oak and XO is a minimum 6.5 years.
Grape varieties permitted are Ugni Blanc, Picpoule, Colombard, Blanquette and Baco Blanc.
