The Bordeaux wine region is located in the South-West of France and is divided by the Gironde River into three broad growing areas. In the West and South lie the areas of Medoc, Graves and Sauternes. In the middle lies the growing region of Entre-Deux-Mers and in the north and east are Saint-Emilion and Pomerol.
Permitted grape varietals are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle .
