Overview
In 1784, Christopher Smith, member of The British Parliament and Lord Mayor of London,founded a small company to ship port from Douro in Portugal. Some years later, the Woodhouse brothers joined him.Since 1970, Smith Woodhouse has been owned by the Symington family.Today, the Symington Family Estates are the leading producers of quality ports, commanding 27% of premium ports sold throughout the world.A favourite among vintage port drinkers, Smith Woodhouse is famous for its ports, made from low-yield grapes grown in the Madalena vineyards located in the heart of the Rio Torto Valley in Douro.
Tasting Notes
Intense and deep ruby red colour.The nose is brimming with ripe red fruits, soft and delicious aromas of black plums and hints of cherries.On the palate, the wine is full bodied with an exquisite and balanced structure full of finesse.
