Overview
Roc de Cambes is a great terroir, situated on the Southern Bank of Bourg-on- Gironde. In fact, it is a very similar terroir to its big brother Domaine Tertre Roteboeuf , with the exception of its position near the estuary of the Gironde (the largest estuary in Europe!). Roc de Cambes soils are composed of clay and limestone, a Mediterranean climate and a natural thermo-regulator from the waters surface allows the grapes to ripen to there full potential.
These wines are very original and will show great diversity according to each vintage. We do not make a “second wine” or mark down any part of the selection.
Price-wise, of course, there is an interesting repercussion for the wine amateurs.
“The Appellation of Cotes de Bourg is not as well-known as Saint Emilion, although it used to be very famous in the distant past. On the other hand, I bought Roc de Cambes ten years later than I started working in Tertre, and its reputation is growing slowly but steadily”
Francois Mitjavile - Le Tertre Rotebeouf & Roc De Cambes, proprietor
“As most consumers are already aware, prices of recent great Bordeaux vintages are at record levels for such young wines, but the real values are not found in the first-growths or many of the classified-growths, rather they are found in the wines I have written about in a separate article called “Bordeaux’s Big Little Wines.” These are some of the finest wine bargains of the world, and quality for unheralded, less prestigious terroirs continues to merit significant consumer support.”

Tasting Notes
Dark red ruby core that is starting to showing signs of age on the outer edges. Light sediment, with a nose of pureed fruit, plum, pencil and black truffle. Balance acidity with a smooth finish.
