Vintage PortThe wines from the Douro, unlike the wines from the northern coast undergo a rapid extraction of color and tannins. Fermentation is arrested by the addition of a fortifying spirit after 2 or 3 days. Although port style wines exists in South Africa, California and Australia, genuine port is from Portugals Douro DOC. Basically 2 broad categories of port exist - those by cask ageing or those by bottle ageing.

Loads of sweet blueberry on the nose, with a wet earth undertone. Full-bodied, with a delicate sweetness and a long, racy finish. Turns chewy. This is subtle and very refined, yet there's a serious hit of fine tannins on the finish. Best after 2015. 675 cases made 92 Points Wine Spectator
