Vintners Quality Alliance (V.Q.A.) is the Canada's symbol of quality wine.
Only two Canadian regions produce wines that fulfil the VQA standards
: Ontario and British Columbia. The self-regulated VQA seal has driven
Canadian producers to higher standards. VQA seal guarantees to following:
1.
Provincial appellations, such as Ontario, use 100% Canadian grown grapes,
a minimum of 85% from the province indicated, and contain a minimum ripeness
level.
2. Specific appellations,
such as Okanagan Valley, are 100% from the province named, a minimum of
85% from the area named, and contain only classic vinifera or
preferred hybrid varieties of a minimum ripeness level.
3. Estate Bottled wines
are 100% from grapes owned or controlled by the winery that is specified.
4. Wines that are designated
by vineyard names are 100% from grapes grown in the particular vineyard
indicated.
