New
Zealand is made up of 2 main islands, north and south. North island, the
more important of the country's two islands, supporting some 70 percent
of the population, North Island is where New Zealand's wine industry began
and was confined to until recently as 1973. South Island has a much lower
population than North Island and due to difficulties in transportation,
was not cultivated until 1973, but has quickly demonstrated an exciting
potential for premium varietals. Click on each island to see the geographical
regions belonging in these island on the map. |
